The Heather 'n Yon Story

Last year, Bluefish Creative grew in an exciting new direction by becoming publishers of Heather ‘n Yon magazine (HnY), a monthly publication for the Heather Gardens 55+ community in Aurora, CO.  

I met Lynn Donaldson, former editor & publisher of HnY, through a friend in the Aurora Chamber of Commerce and began working for the magazine as the ad manager. My job included designing ads and collaborating with clients on promoting their businesses to the Heather Gardens community.   

With my background in design and marketing—and Brian’s roots in the newspaper world and his current role in the printing industry—it felt like the perfect fit.  And in April 2024, we published our first issue.

Like so many meaningful projects, this monthly publication is truly a team effort. We're fortunate to have a dedicated group of talented staff who write, photograph, and deliver each issue—alongside generous volunteers who help with distribution.

We’re honored to carry on the legacy of Heather ‘n Yon and grateful to the many local businesses that continue to support the magazine through their advertising. We’re excited about what the future holds and proud to be part of this dynamic and engaged community.
